Fold Forming @ Worcester Center for Crafts

6 Wednesdays ~ Jul 8, Jul 15, Jul 22, Jul 96, Aug 5 & Aug 12 ~ 6:30-9:30pm

Fold forming is an exciting area of metalsmithing that uses the natural flexibility of sheet metal to produce graceful, naturalistic shapes such as leaves, pods and spirals that would normally be time consuming and challenging to construct as chased or soldered objects.

Students will be taken step by step through a series of fold forming demonstrations, and will pursue their own variations on these techniques. In addition to the standard line folds, topics covered will include the Star Fold, Reuger Fold, and basic T-fold. We'll be working in copper because it is a versatile, affordable and forgiving material. No soldering is required, but we will work with a torch to anneal the metal. Beginners welcome!
